The Bird Preserve

The Bird Preserve at Tyler Arboretum.
The bold quirky proportions on the Bird Preserve tree house make it a real statement piece. I would even say it's a bit like an exclamation point! Birdhouse playhouses...I see a theme emerging here.  Visit the Totally Terrific Tree House exhibit the the Tyler Arboretum and explore all of the tree houses.

Castle Fun!

Can you guess what this castle is made of?  I found this great rainy day project over at mekkotehdas, a beautiful blog where you could easily loose hours if you're not careful.  I'd love to see more of these!

Tea Time Tent

Isn't this tea party tent adorable!

Airstream Playhouse

How cool is this airstream playhouse!  Love the green & pink!  If I could only see the interior (pictures anyone)?  This is the second airstream playhouse I've ran across...I'll have to find pictures of the other one.  This modern day Gypsy Caravan is perfect for kids on the go!  It is is being auctioned off in support of Dallas CASA.  Don't miss your chance it could be yours!  For more info. and to purchase raffle tickets  click here.

Found it!  Here's the other one!  The image above is from Life with Peanut.  It was designed and built for the Playhouse Palooza in support of the Riverview Charter School in Beaufort, South Carolina way back in 2009.  I highlighted a few playhouses from that event here.

I love these playhouses on wheels!  Whether you are thinking about designing a Gypsy caravan or a more retro version of a mobile playhouse check out some of my previous post for inspiration.

Dallas CASA Parade of Playhouses

Custom-built Playhouse designed by LRO Residential

It's that time of year again!  CASA is selling raffle tickets for 19 playhouses!  The playhouse pictured above is being auctioned.  If you're in the area stop by and check them out.  You can also visit their site and place a bid or purchase tickets.

Here's the specifics (forgive me for the copy paste):

The ORIX Parade of Playhouses at NorthPark Center, provides and opportunity to help abused and neglected children realize their dreams of finding safe, permanent homes.  In its 15th year, the event raises public awareness about child abuse, the plight of children in foster care in Dallas County and ways to help.

During the two-week Parade of Playhouses, visitors to NorthPark purchase raffle tickets for chances to win one of many extraordinary, custom-built playhouses.  The playhouse drawing is held during the event’s closing ceremony.

The 2011 ORIX Parade of Playhouses will feature 19 custom-designed playhouses.  Raffle tickets may be purchased online beginning July 25 and at NorthPark Center beginning August 5. Raffle tickets are available for $5 each or 5 for $20.  Each $50 purchase receives an entry for a special drawing for 4 round trip Southwest Airlines tickets.  All proceeds from Parade of Playhouses help Dallas CASA recruit, train and supervise volunteers who advocate for abused and neglected children in the protective care of the courts.
