Flat Packed Playhouse!

Flat packed products have been around for a while and with good reason.  They're easy to transport, assemble, and store.  One of the more common uses of this technology is seen in furniture design, but it is becoming more and more prevalent in building construction.  For playhouse design transportation can often be an issue.  Using flat packed technology can cut down on shipping cost as well as make it easier to store the house when it's not in use.

This flat packed playhouse also known as Phoyo  (Play House Of Your Own) is great example of taking a basic concept and tuning it into a fun functional play space.  Architect Robin Hannah originally designed and built his first flat packed playhouse for his children in the 1970's.  Now he has recreated a version of the playhouse for his grandchildren as well as anyone else who wants to purchase one.  (Prices range from 429.00 to 499.00 plus shipping from New Zealand).

  1. Here are 2 more flat packed (but cardboard) playhouses. I was inspired to write this article for work, after obsessively reading your blog!

  2. I'm so glad you found some inspiration here! The cardboard playhouses in your article are great! Cardboard is one of my favorite materials to work with. You can't beat a free material, and the possibilities are endless.
