Modern Tree House

In all of my research on play spaces I have never come across anything quite like this modern tree house by Sanei Hopkins Architects. The design was based on the "pig arc," a simple farm structure that houses pigs. While this may seem an unlikely place to find inspiration, many architects have found beauty in vernacular forms. What a great example of taking a common structure and looking at it in a fun new way! This play space is elevated giving new meaning to the phrase "when pigs fly!"

*If you are planning on using corrugated metal make sure the sharp edges are covered.

  1. Hello!

I just stumbled upon your blog.

    It is simply delightful.

I am 42 and believe one is never too old or too big for a playhouse.

  2. Thanks so much for your kind words. You're right, no one is too old for a playhouse!

  3. Nice find, Holly...such an unusual project! I used corrugated sheet metal in a design for the youth room at my church...we covered the sharp edges with layers of shiny aluminum duct tape (true duct tape, not the woven dull-grey kind, it's available at hardware stores). It blends well enough with the metal to be invisible except up close.
